Life might not be the competition that you think it is, which is good news.

Lots of people, from a young age, “learn” that life is about the accumulation of money, wealth, property, etc.

It’s an easy misconception when you are young – maybe watching your parents (or your single parent) struggle to “make ends meet” with bills, etc. But the reality is that there’s much more to “life” than you think.

Trying to impress friends with an expensive car, huge house, or a flashy watch might make you feel good in the moment, but it has no real bearing on you or your life.

What is unseen and often lost when you’re growing up is the understanding that life is about the competition to find “happiness” in your life – however you choose to define it.

Many know the sentiment “money can’t buy happiness”. It’s certainly true. Money can’t buy happiness – it can buy things that may make you happy for a little while.

But true happiness is a mindset. Do YOU have what you need to be happy? Defining “happy” with a material scale (like money) will always fail. There can always be more money. There can always be a bigger house or a more expensive watch. It’s a never-ending game that you get caught up in.

So, do the work to understand what makes you happy, then make strides to get there – wherever that is!
